The Hisense Energy Pro X White in its 3.5 kW version is the set QH35XV0AG with the outdoor unit QE35XV2XW. The manufacturer describes it as the top comfort series from Hisense, fully inverter-driven, with an A+++ rating not only in cooling (SEER 8.5) but also in heating (SCOP 5.1). That second indicator sets it apart from many models that look excellent in summer but have only A++ in the heating season. If you are buying an air conditioner also to warm the flat in winter, SCOP should be the first number you look at. In the paragraphs below we turn these figures into practical consequences: how loud it is, how it behaves in winter and what to watch during installation.

Besides efficiency, the model offers a set of functions that the manufacturer groups around comfort. The Smart Eye sensor detects movement in the room and directs the airflow, 4D automatic swing spreads it vertically and horizontally, and the intelligent AI Smart comfort mode matches operation to conditions. HI-NANO sterilisation, a 4-in-1 filter and a carbon filter look after air quality, and built-in Wi-Fi allows control from an app. In cooling the unit works at outdoor temperatures from -15 to 43 °C, in heating from -20 to 24 °C. Voice control through Alexa or Google Assistant is, according to the manufacturer, an option and not a standard feature.

The data that will matter in your flat: cooling capacity of 3.5 kW (from 1.0 to 4.4 kW), heating capacity of 4.2 kW (from 1.6 to 4.8 kW), indoor noise from 25 to 38 dB and 50 dB outdoors. The indoor unit is 877 mm wide, 301 mm high and 194 mm deep, weighs 10 kg and comes here in a light white version that fits bright walls well. The maximum installation length is 20 m.

Overview and positioning

In our catalogue this model represents the premium group and suits a customer who treats an air conditioner as a year-round appliance and not just a summer cooler. The manufacturer calls the Energy Pro X series the top of the Hisense comfort range, and its description mentions A+++ efficiency in both directions of operation. The White version means a light casing on the indoor unit; there is also a dark variant of the series, but here we describe only the white one and its own strengths. For many Warsaw customers this is an important distinction, because colour decides whether the air conditioner melts into the wall or becomes a visible element of the room's decor.

The most important of those strengths is the combination of high winter efficiency with ease of use. SCOP 5.1 means that during the heating season the unit delivers several times more heat than the electricity it draws, and heating is rated from -20 °C. Added to this are convenient solutions: the Smart Eye motion sensor, 4D swing and AI Smart mode, which are meant to reduce the need to adjust settings by hand. In practice that means less time spent with a remote in your hand and more of an appliance that simply does its job in the background.

A capacity of 3.5 kW suits a living room, a large bedroom or a lounge combined with a kitchen. We make the final choice during the assessment, because the same set in a south-facing room and in a north-facing room will work completely differently. If the flat has several rooms we can propose separate sets for each one, but we usually start with the room that heats up most in summer.

Cooling and heating technology

This is a fully inverter-driven unit, and the manufacturer underlines 100% DC Inverter, that is smooth power regulation across the whole range. The working refrigerant is R32. Cooling capacity varies from 1.0 to 4.4 kW around the nominal 3.5 kW, and heating capacity from 1.6 to 4.8 kW around the nominal 4.2 kW. Heating capacity is thus higher than cooling capacity, which is an advantage for people counting on warmth on colder days. A cooling range starting at 1.0 kW lets the unit drop to very low power once the room is cool, which means calm operation instead of frequent compressor starts.

The seasonal indicators are SEER 8.5 and SCOP 5.1, and the energy class is A+++ in cooling and in heating. When choosing, always compare the same indicator under the same conditions; a difference of one point of SCOP can turn into a noticeable difference in the electricity bill over the heating season.

The outdoor unit works in cooling from -15 to 43 °C and in heating from -20 to 24 °C. The manufacturer also lists the Super Cool function for quickly cooling the room, an ECO mode, and holding 8 °C in an empty room, which protects the flat from chilling when nobody is there. Super Cool is useful when you walk into a heated room and want to lower the temperature fast, and after reaching the goal it is worth returning to ECO or AI Smart so as not to run at top power longer than necessary. In frost heating output falls, so we treat this model as a strong supplement to your heating and not its full replacement. The 8 °C function is especially handy in houses and flats used seasonally, when you do not want the temperature to drop to values that favour damp.

Comfort and air quality

The Smart Eye sensor detects movement in the room and directs the airflow, which is meant to avoid blowing straight at people sitting or lying down or, conversely, to aim it where someone is. Combined with the 4D automatic swing, which spreads air vertically and horizontally, it is meant to ensure an even temperature throughout the room. This solution works particularly well in longer living rooms, where a classic one-way stream leaves cooler or warmer zones. Remember that the sensor reacts to movement and not to presence as such, so a person sleeping or sitting still may be taken into account less than someone walking around the room. It also does not replace sensible louvre settings: airflow aimed permanently at the bed tires even the best appliance, so at installation we show how to set the stream.

Sterilisation HI-NANO, a 4-in-1 filter, a carbon filter and a humidity control function are responsible for air purity. The manufacturer also describes self-cleaning of the indoor and outdoor unit, which helps keep the appliance in good condition between services. As always with such functions, they do not replace filter cleaning and periodic servicing. Humidity control is useful in summer, when cool but humid air is more tiring than dry air, and it helps reduce the feeling of stuffiness.

The manufacturer gives quiet operation as a sound pressure level of up to 25 dB in quiet mode; the range of the whole indoor unit is from 25 to 38 dB. The outdoor unit is rated at 50 dB, which residents of ground floors and people whose air conditioner will hang near a balcony will appreciate. There are four sleep modes, another element valued by people sensitive to noise and temperature changes at night.

Controls and Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is built into this model, so control from an app works without buying a module. It lets you change the temperature and mode and switch on functions when you are away. We set up the connection to your network at commissioning, and the customer receives a short guide to using the app. It is worth saving your favourite settings in the app, so that on returning home you can switch on the right mode with a single tap.

Voice control through Alexa or Google Assistant is, according to the manufacturer, optional, so we do not assume it comes as standard. If this function matters to you, tell us during the assessment and we will check how to set it up in your home. Optional means an additional element or configuration that we do not include in the basic offer without your agreement.

In everyday use the AI Smart mode is also helpful: it is meant to choose comfortable operation without manual setting, and so are several sleep modes and the ECO mode. It is convenient to set them once and then only adjust the temperature, instead of going through the whole list of options every evening. If several people use the unit, it is worth agreeing one base setting so that the app and local control do not contradict each other.

Design and build

The White variant has a light casing on the indoor unit, wide and flat. Its dimensions are 877 mm wide, 301 mm high and 194 mm deep, and the weight is 10 kg. It is one of the larger 3.5 kW units, so before ordering we check whether the space above the sofa or desk will take it without trouble and whether a suitable gap from the ceiling remains. If the wall were too narrow, we consider hanging it above a door or in another place that gives free airflow.

The light colour helps where walls are white or cream: the unit melts into the background and draws less attention. In dark interiors it is better to look at the black version, which we describe separately. A white casing also tolerates everyday dust and finger marks, which are easy to wipe off with a soft, slightly damp cloth once the unit is switched off.

The set works on R32, and the maximum installation length is 20 m. As with other models, the look of the installation depends as much on the unit as on how the pipes are routed, so we pay special attention to that part. Because of the width of the indoor unit, measure the wall space before you decide and allow for the distance from the ceiling.

Installation and service

First we carry out a free assessment where we set the scope of work, and we quote the installed price after a free assessment. In the basic scope we mount both units, run up to several metres of refrigerant, electrical and condensate lines, and make the wall penetration, arranging the cables neatly. We record the scope so that there are no surprises on installation day, and we discuss any changes before we start.

After mounting we pull a vacuum, check tightness, charge the system with refrigerant and start the air conditioner. We check operating parameters and configure the controls, including Wi-Fi, and at the end we explain the operation and hand over the warranty documents. After commissioning we leave the customer notes on cleaning the filters and the date of the first service.

We discuss extra charges in advance. They may concern a longer run, drilling through concrete or reinforced concrete, wall chasing, a condensate pump or work from a lift platform. The manufacturer allows an installation of up to 20 m, and we always check on site whether the route fits within that limit. Self-cleaning and filters do not remove the need for a service, which we recommend having done regularly.

Who this model is for — summary

Choose the Energy Pro X White 3.5 kW if the air conditioner is to work all year and you care about the best efficiency in heating as well. A+++ in both modes and SCOP 5.1 are the strongest arguments of this set. In addition the light casing suits most Polish flats. For a customer who wants to reduce energy use across the whole year, it is one of the most interesting proposals in our catalogue.

We also recommend the model to people who like automation: the Smart Eye sensor, 4D swing and AI Smart mode limit manual settings, and Wi-Fi gives remote control. If, however, you are looking for the quietest outdoor unit or a very compact appliance, compare it with other models in the catalogue. Remember that the indoor unit is wide, so measure the place on the wall before deciding.

We quote the installed price after a free assessment. Ask us, and during the visit we will choose the capacity and point out the best place to hang the indoor unit.
