The LG DUALCOOL AI Deluxe 3.5 kW, with the P12SND NS0 indoor unit and the P12SND U12A outdoor unit, is built around one question: where should the air go, and how hard should it blow? Instead of leaving that entirely to a remote, the model uses a radar sensor, two vanes that steer the airflow and the LG ThinQ app. It suits someone who would rather have the unit adapt to the people in the room than the other way round. In practice that means a flat where one person works at a desk, another watches television and a third sleeps, and nobody wants to sit in a direct stream of cold air.

The manufacturer's figures: 3.5 kW cooling capacity (lowest operating output 0.9 kW), 3.7 kW heating capacity (5.0 kW at peak), an indoor sound pressure level from 19 to 48 dB(A), R32 refrigerant and an A++ energy class for both cooling and heating. The indoor unit is 799 mm wide, 307 mm high and 235 mm deep, and it weighs 10 kg.

The manufacturer credits the LG DUALCOOL series with the iF Design Award 2025 and the Red Dot award 2024 in the heating and air-conditioning technology category, and lists it as an IDEA 2024 finalist. On this page we describe what lies behind that in daily use: how the model spreads air, what it does at night and how much effort it takes to keep it clean. We quote the installed price after a free assessment. The scope of work and any surcharges are agreed before we begin, with no surprises at the end.

Overview and positioning

In the LeoKlima catalogue the DUALCOOL AI Deluxe sits in the premium segment and suits customers who expect more from an air conditioner than simply lowering the temperature in a room. The manufacturer's whole message rests on the idea of intelligent cooling: the unit works out where in the room a person is, checks the temperature and shapes the airflow accordingly. This is not a plain split you switch on and forget. The model has a rich set of modes, so in the first few days it pays to spend a quarter of an hour on the settings. For a customer in Warsaw choosing a unit for an apartment block flat, that has one practical consequence: the model shows its strengths mainly where several people use a room or where the furniture layout is unusual.

The set consists of the P12SND NS0 indoor unit and the P12SND U12A outdoor unit. Nominal cooling capacity is 3.5 kW and heating capacity is 3.7 kW, which corresponds to a variant for a bedroom or a medium-sized living room. The real choice of capacity depends on floor area, the number of windows and sun exposure, so we discuss it during a free visit rather than from the model name alone.

It is worth saying at once what the manufacturer's page does not give for this variant: the operating temperature range of the outdoor unit, its noise level or the maximum installation length. We do not fill those in from other sources. If they matter to you, for example with a longer pipe run, we check them in the technical documentation before we fix the scope of work.

Cooling and heating technology

At the heart of the system is the DUAL Inverter compressor, which the manufacturer describes as energy-efficient and aimed at steady, dependable warmth. An inverter lets the unit match its output to demand: when cooling it can drop to 0.9 kW, and when heating it can reach 5.0 kW if a room has to be warmed up quickly. In the manufacturer's table both cooling and heating carry the A++ class, and the circuit runs on R32 refrigerant.

The second element is the DUAL Vane system, meaning twin vanes. They can send the airflow upwards or downwards. LG states that the airflow reaches more than 22 m, which is 22% further than the previous platform with a single vane, and that in company tests cooling ran up to 23% faster without a feeling of draught. Heating was meant to be 6% faster. The manufacturer cautions that these are results from a test chamber and may differ at home, so we treat them as a direction, not a promise.

Two energy-saving functions are added on top. The kW Manager lets you set a limit on energy use and works in every mode except heating. Open-window detection switches the unit into an energy-saving mode while the room is being aired. The first suits people who watch their bills, the second those who ventilate often and do not want to switch the air conditioner off every time.

Comfort and air quality

AI Air is the most distinctive feature of this model. A radar sensor detects where a person is in the room, and the air conditioner changes fan speed and airflow direction, choosing between direct and indirect airflow. Detection range is up to 5 m and, as the manufacturer points out, depends on how the unit is installed and on the conditions in the room. Before first use it is recommended to take a photo of the room in the LG ThinQ app or to mark the positions of the unit and the occupants. It works in cooling and in heating, and changing the airflow direction by hand switches it off.

Soft Air is the gentle airflow mode. The lower outlet is closed and the air leaves through the front, indirect channel, so once the set temperature is reached you do not feel cold on your skin. When Soft Air is used on its own, the lowest temperature you can set is 24 °C. The humidity control function changes the airflow automatically and you set only the temperature. Sleep Timer+ learns your habits and adjusts the sleep mode within a range of 22–28 °C, but it works only in cooling and needs a first-time setup in LG ThinQ.

The indoor unit's sound level lies between 19 and 48 dB(A). The highest value applies to the fastest fan speed and the lowest to the quiet mode, so at night it is the lower end of the scale that counts. Air cleanliness is handled by a pre-filter, which traps larger dust particles, and an anti-allergy filter, which LG says removes house dust mites among other things, as confirmed by BAF testing.

Controls and Wi-Fi

The model can be operated with a remote, but the manufacturer clearly puts its weight on the LG ThinQ app. Through it you start the air conditioner with a single tap from anywhere, set the airflow temperature in Soft Air mode and adjust the airflow strength in Sleep Timer+. The app also shows energy use and helps you keep up with everyday maintenance, and through a speaker with a voice assistant you can say on or off.

What matters to the buyer: the manufacturer's description speaks of connectivity through LG ThinQ but does not say whether the communication module is supplied in the box. So we do not promise it in advance. When we quote, we check for the specific set how app access works and only then configure it as part of commissioning. That way you do not buy the unit on an assumption that turns out to be wrong after installation.

From the point of view of daily use, three things count most: AI Air can be switched on both from the remote and from the app, Sleep Timer+ needs a one-time setup in ThinQ, and the kW Manager has to be configured deliberately, because without a limit nothing restricts consumption. We show these steps when we hand the unit over.

A separate matter is household order: with several users it is worth agreeing who manages the app, because the night settings, the kW Manager limit and AI Air airflow are shared by the whole unit. One person setting the temperature from a phone changes the comfort of everyone else, so a simple house rule helps. Switching on remotely before you get home works best when you know how long the room needs to reach the set temperature.

Design and build

The indoor unit casing is white. The dimensions are 799 mm wide, 307 mm high and 235 mm deep at a weight of 10 kg, so this is a classic wall-mounted format that does not require a large dedicated space. The white casing does not stand out in an interior, and the modest depth means the unit does not protrude far from the wall. The manufacturer boasts of design recognition: according to it the LG DUALCOOL series received the iF Design Award 2025 and Red Dot 2024, and the LG DUALCOOL AI Air Deluxe was among the IDEA 2024 finalists.

From a technical point of view, more interesting than appearance is how the unit copes with dirt. The All Cleaning package has three steps. Auto Clean+ blows air over the heat exchanger after shutdown and dries it for up to 20 minutes, adjusting the volume so that drying is either faster or quieter. Freeze Cleaning freezes and then thaws the heat exchanger, and the melted ice washes the dirt away. The pre-filter and the anti-allergy filter complete the picture.

One more practical detail: the cleaning aids are built into the way the unit works, not only into its casing. Auto Clean+ starts after operation ends, so you do not have to remember it, while you choose Freeze Cleaning deliberately when you want to rinse the inside. For people who care about limiting moisture inside the air conditioner, such automation makes daily use easier.

These functions reduce the build-up of moisture but do not replace servicing. Filters still have to be cleaned periodically, and the heat exchanger and outdoor unit are worth handing over to a service technician once a year.

Installation and service

As part of the installation, LeoKlima mounts the indoor and outdoor units and runs up to a few metres of refrigerant, electrical and condensate routing. We make the wall passage, lay the installation neatly, evacuate the system and test it for tightness, charge it with refrigerant and start the unit. At the end we check the operating parameters, configure the controls, explain how to use the unit and hand over the warranty documents.

We agree the scope during a free audit, because some elements depend on the flat. Surcharges, which we discuss before work begins, may apply for a longer route, drilling through concrete or reinforced concrete, chasing walls, a condensate pump or work from a lift platform. The manufacturer does not give a maximum installation length for this variant, so we discuss the length of the run individually. If the wall between the room and the outdoor unit's location is thick or made of reinforced concrete, the drilling will need different equipment and more time, and in some blocks the housing association's rules on facades must also be considered.

After installation we show you how to remove and wash the filters, how to start Auto Clean+ and how to use the app if you choose that way of control. We also hand over the warranty documents and explain what to do if questions come up in the first weeks of use.

Running costs and effort stay low if you follow a few rules: wash the filters regularly, check that the condensate drain is clear before the season and have an annual inspection. We quote the installed price after a free assessment.

Who this model is for — summary

Choose the DUALCOOL AI Deluxe if you dislike a cold stream on your back and want the air conditioner to decide for itself whether to blow at you or past you. The radar, the two vanes and Soft Air mode answer exactly that problem. It also fits flats where people sleep with the unit running: the quiet mode starts at 19 dB(A), and Sleep Timer+ adjusts the temperature during the night.

If simplicity matters more, with no app and no configuration, a model with fewer functions may make more sense; here you pay for the control options and for modes that are worth using. Remember too that 3.5 kW is a variant for a single room, and that we give no seasonal class or outdoor-unit operating range for it, because they are not in the source. Anyone who wants to know how it behaves in frost should ask us for the technical data before buying.

In short, this is a model for people who value intelligent airflow, quiet nights and the convenience of phone control, and who are ready to spend a moment on the initial setup. We quote the installed price after a free assessment. During the visit we measure the room, show where both units can go and describe which tasks are in scope and which may need a surcharge.
