The Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nordic 3.5 kW is a wall-mounted air conditioner in a version meant for colder climates: a set of the SRK35ZTX-WA indoor unit and the SRC35ZTX-WA outdoor unit. The manufacturer, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (through its European arm, MHIAE), marks it on its website as a Nordic model. Two things set it apart: heating operation down to -25°C and a drain pan heater. On top of that come the top energy classes, A+++ in both cooling and heating.
The figures from the manufacturer's data sheet are clearly above average for household air conditioners. Nominal cooling capacity is 3.5 kW (range 0.9–4.5 kW) and nominal heating capacity is 4.3 kW (range 0.9–8.0 kW). SEER is 9.5 and SCOP is 5.1, calculated for a temperate climate. The indoor unit runs from 19 to 43 dB and the outdoor unit is rated at 47 dB. The refrigerant is R32, and the maximum installation length reaches 25 m with a height difference of up to 15 m.
The name Nordic can be misleading, because the same label appears at several manufacturers. This is the MHI model, not the Fuji Electric Nordic series, so the codes SRK35ZTX-WA and SRC35ZTX-WA are the surest way to make sure we are talking about the same unit. The manufacturer's description is brief: it gives parameters, operating ranges and filters, and does not list modes or controls. This page therefore sticks to that data and does not add features the source does not confirm. If you compare offers, line them up by unit codes and concrete figures, not by the series name. For a customer who wants to heat a flat on frosty days too, this is a concrete candidate, well described in numbers.
In the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries range the Nordic is the winter version of the SRK-ZTX-WA series. The manufacturer's page explicitly marks it as a Nordic variant, with a drain pan heater and heating operation down to -25°C. The classification on the manufacturer's page places it in the upper part of the range, with a Diamond icon. There is no separate description of this series in the manufacturer's catalogue, so we base its character on the product page, that is, on the parameters and operating ranges.
In practice the Nordic is a proposal for someone who wants to use the air conditioner as a heater in winter too, not only for cooling in summer. High seasonal efficiency translates into lower electricity use, and the wide range of outdoor temperatures means you do not have to switch the unit off at the first frost. It is a sensible solution for a house or a flat with less capable heating, but also for rooms where radiators run weakly. For a Warsaw customer this distinction matters: winters here can be damp and frosty, and an air conditioner meant to help with heating should have a documented operating range below zero. On the manufacturer's paper this model does, which is why we suggest considering it when heating matters as much as cooling.
Remember that an air conditioner with a nominal capacity of 3.5 kW is chosen for one specific room. Before we propose this model, we measure the volume, check the insulation and sun exposure, and ask how intensively the room is used. Only on that basis do we decide whether 3.5 kW is enough or a model of a different capacity would be better.
The system runs on R32 refrigerant. The capacity ranges show wide modulation: from 0.9 kW to 4.5 kW in cooling and from 0.9 kW to 8.0 kW in heating. The upper limit in heating, much higher than the nominal 4.3 kW, means a reserve of power for moments when the room has to be warmed up quickly after cooling down. The lower limit lets the unit run calmly at low demand, without constantly switching on and off.
Seasonal efficiency is the strongest argument here. The manufacturer gives SEER 9.5 and SCOP 5.1, and both classes are A+++. The SCOP value is calculated for a temperate climate, which includes Poland, but the result in a particular flat depends on insulation and the way the unit is used. Roughly, it means more than five units of heat per unit of electricity under test conditions. Single-phase supply of 220–240 V usually means no changes to the electrical installation in a flat, but we always check that at the audit before we define the scope of work.
The operating range is from -15 to 46°C in cooling and from -25 to 24°C in heating. In winter this means operation in frost down to -25°C, that is, in conditions where many ordinary air conditioners stop heating. The drain pan heater makes sense precisely in frost: water from defrosting should not freeze in the pan of the outdoor unit and block its operation. Remember, however, that at very low temperatures heating output naturally falls and the unit periodically defrosts the outdoor heat exchanger. Defrosting is a normal feature of heat pump operation in winter and does not mean a fault: for a short while the unit may reduce airflow or pause heating to clear frost from the outdoor coil. It is good to know this so you are not alarmed.
The sound pressure level of the indoor unit lies between 19 and 43 dB. The lower value is the quietest speed and the upper value the highest. At 19 dB the unit is barely audible in a quiet bedroom, and at 43 dB, when the temperature has to change quickly, it is clearly noticeable. The outdoor unit is rated at 47 dB, so when choosing a place on a balcony or facade it is worth considering the bedroom windows of your own flat and your neighbours'.
The manufacturer describes two elements of filtration. The first is the Allergen Clear filter, which according to the description uses an enzyme and urea to deactivate allergens, bacteria, moulds and viruses. The second is a photocatalytic, washable deodorising filter, meant to reduce unpleasant odours. For people sensitive to dust or mould this is an important addition, although no air conditioner filter replaces airing or cleaning the room.
The washable deodorising filter requires regular maintenance from the user. You take it out, rinse it with water according to the manual and dry it thoroughly before putting it back. A neglected filter only worsens airflow and raises noise, so it is worth setting a regular cleaning rhythm, for example once every few weeks in the season of heavy use. We will show you how to do it when we hand the unit over. Defrosting is also worth remembering, and so is the condensate: when planning the place for the outdoor unit, we think about how condensate drains away, so that in winter water does not run onto the pavement or a neighbour's balcony.
This is a section where we have to be especially careful. The manufacturer's description of this model contains parameters, operating ranges and filters, but says nothing about controls, a remote controller, an app or Wi-Fi. For that reason we do not claim that this model can be controlled from a smartphone, and we do not add modes or timers that the source does not confirm.
What does this mean for you? If remote control is important, ask about it before ordering. We will check the manufacturer's current documentation and tell you which controls and accessories are available for this set before anything is bought. That is safer than assuming something that later turns out to be an extra option. Until we have that information from the documentation, treat this model as an air conditioner whose strengths are its heating parameters and filtration, not network functions. We can give you the information on controls together with the quote, so you can compare it with other offers.
Even without described functions, every air conditioner needs a sensible temperature setting. In winter a set value one degree lower noticeably reduces electricity use, and in summer a setting that is too low can overcool the room and cause a draught. After commissioning we will show you how to use the controls supplied with the set and how to set the modes so that the unit runs economically and quietly.
The indoor unit is wide: it is 920 mm wide, 305 mm high and 220 mm deep, and weighs 13 kg. That is more than typical compact models, so before ordering we check whether there is enough room above the bed, sofa or desk. The casing colour, according to the manufacturer's photo, is white.
The manufacturer does not describe decorative elements or finishes here, so we do not add any patterns, panels or coatings. We concentrate on what is known: a proven wall-mounted form, a light colour and dimensions that must be taken into account in the wall plan. A weight of 13 kg requires solid fixing, so on light or hollow walls we choose suitable anchors. If the wall is narrow, we will consider another position for the unit, for example above a door or on a side wall, as long as the height of 305 mm and the clearance from the ceiling allow it.
The outdoor unit SRC35ZTX-WA is rated at 47 dB. In frosts, when the drain pan heater and periodic defrosting operate, it is worth giving it a place where snow and ice will not accumulate and where service has free access. In an apartment block that most often means a balcony or facade, taking the housing community's requirements into account. The supply is single phase, 220–240 V, 50 Hz.
Installation at LeoKlima covers mounting the indoor and outdoor units and running up to a few metres of refrigerant, electrical and condensate lines. We make the wall penetration and route the installation tidily. Then comes evacuating the system, checking it for leaks, charging it with refrigerant and starting the unit.
After start-up we check the operating parameters and configure the controls. Then we explain how to operate the unit and hand over the warranty documents. The manufacturer allows an installation up to 25 m long and a height difference of up to 15 m, but the scope in a particular flat is set at a free audit, because a longer route means a surcharge.
We discuss possible surcharges before the work: a longer route, drilling through concrete or reinforced concrete, chasing walls, a condensate pump and work from a lift platform. We quote the installed price after a free assessment. In use, remember to clean the filters, and especially the washable one. Once a year we recommend an inspection covering the tightness of the system and the cleanliness of the heat exchangers, and in winter a check that the outdoor unit is not buried in snow. The first inspection after the heating season is a good moment to see how the unit coped with frost and to clear deposits from the heat exchangers.
The MHI Nordic 3.5 kW is for someone who wants an air conditioner that also works in winter, even in hard frost. Heating operation down to -25°C, SCOP 5.1 and class A+++ make it an attractive choice where heating is to be a frequent task. The Allergen Clear and photocatalytic filters add an argument for people sensitive to allergens.
It suits less well someone who expects a rich description of controls, an app and remote access, because the source gives no such information. It also does not fit a narrow niche or a small wall, because the indoor unit is 920 mm wide. If it matters to you that the unit is white and of classic form, this model delivers that.
Write or call, and we will come, look at the room and establish whether 3.5 kW is the right capacity. Then we will give the installed price as part of the free assessment, with no obligation. At the same time we will confirm the available controls, so that nothing surprises you after the purchase. This way the decision rests on measurements and the manufacturer's data, not on an impression from a catalogue.
