The Midea Breezeless in its 3.5 kW size is a set made up of the MSFAAU-12HRFN8-QRD6GW indoor unit and the MOB01-12HFN8-QRD6GW(A) outdoor unit. Midea places it in its premium range, and the whole idea behind the unit revolves around one complaint: draughts. Instead of pushing a cold stream straight into the room, in 3D Surround mode the unit releases air through slots on its sides, so cooling feels gentler and more indirect. A note on the name: this is a different series from the Midea BreezelessE, which is also in our catalogue, and the units of the two series carry different codes.
The figures on the product sheet are as follows: cooling 3.5 kW with a range of 1.3 to 4.4 kW, heating 3.8 kW with a range of 0.9 to 4.4 kW. Cooling efficiency is SEER 8.5, which is class A+++. The unit cools at outdoor temperatures from -15 to 50°C and heats from -15 to 30°C. Smooth operation comes from what Midea calls Inverter Quattro: linear control of the indoor fan across 1–100%, temperature setting in 0.5°C steps and smooth modulation of both the compressor and the outdoor fan.
The box includes the Midea Smart Kit, the module for control through an app over Wi-Fi, so there is nothing extra to buy. On top of that come Follow Me, I Eco, GEAR, Do Not Disturb and a refrigerant leak alarm. The indoor unit measures 940 x 193 x 325 mm and weighs 10.7 kg, and its sound pressure on the sheet is 20.5–38.5 dB. This description sticks strictly to the manufacturer's data, and where the sheet gives ambiguous values we simply leave them out. Whether the model suits a particular room is something we judge on site, looking at the wall, the windows and the route to the outdoor unit. We quote the installed price after a free assessment.
Many people who give up on air conditioning, or use it reluctantly, share the same complaint: a cold stream of air on the back of the neck, on the bed or on the sofa. Breezeless was designed around exactly that problem. Midea describes it as a premium series with airflow that limits draughts, and the rest of its equipment serves the same goal: cooling the room without the feeling that someone is standing next to your head with a fan. The 3.5 kW version suits a bedroom, a child's room, a study or a medium-sized living room, provided the sun exposure is not unusually high.
The set consists of the MSFAAU-12HRFN8-QRD6GW indoor unit and the MOB01-12HFN8-QRD6GW(A) outdoor unit. The series name is easily confused with BreezelessE, which uses different unit codes, so we always check the code when ordering. The indoor unit can also work with multi-split outdoor units, which helps when you are planning several rooms served by one outdoor unit on the balcony.
Our data comes from Midea's product sheet. Some of the heating parameters are given there as ranges for different seasons, which is why this page does not quote the seasonal heating efficiency or the heating energy class. What we do show is what is unambiguous: capacities, operating temperature ranges, SEER and the cooling class, dimensions and equipment. If heating efficiency is decisive for you, we will go through it during the survey using the documentation of the specific set being supplied.
In cooling the nominal output is 3.5 kW, and the unit modulates between 1.3 and 4.4 kW. In heating the nominal output is 3.8 kW, with a range of 0.9 to 4.4 kW. The low heating threshold means that in the shoulder months the unit can hold the temperature at very little power. Seasonal cooling efficiency is SEER 8.5, which corresponds to class A+++. The set runs on R32 refrigerant.
Inverter Quattro is the name Midea gives to several mechanisms at once. The indoor fan has linear control from 1 to 100% rather than a few fixed speeds, which makes it easier to match the airflow to the time of day. The temperature can be set in 0.5°C steps. The compressor and the outdoor fan also run with smooth modulation. For the user this means fewer temperature swings in the room, because the unit adjusts its output gradually instead of switching on and off.
The cooling range runs from -15 to 50°C outdoors, and Midea also lists cooling at low outdoor temperatures, useful in rooms with a server or a lot of equipment. Heating works from -15 to 30°C. In a Warsaw frost the heating output will be lower than nominal, so we treat this set as shoulder-season heating and support for your main heating rather than as the only heat source. The I Eco and GEAR functions limit compressor speed, which according to Midea serves higher efficiency. They are handy when the room is already comfortable and you care more about the bill than about cooling down quickly.
The key mode of this model is 3D Surround. Air leaves through the side slots of the casing and spreads around the room indirectly instead of hitting the people sitting opposite the unit. The second mode, Silky Cool, uses a special diffuser that reduces the speed of the airstream and how intrusive it feels. In practice both modes are meant for situations where the air conditioner runs for a long time with people in the room: a night in the bedroom, work at a desk, an evening on the sofa. To quickly cool an overheated flat when you get home, you can use normal airflow first and then switch to the gentler mode.
Airflow direction is fully motorised through 360°, both vertically and horizontally, from the remote. There is no need to move side louvres by hand, which matters when the unit hangs high above a wardrobe or a bed. The Follow Me function measures temperature in the remote, so the unit can adjust its operation to conditions where you actually are, not only near the ceiling, where it is usually warmer.
According to the sheet, the indoor unit's sound pressure ranges from 20.5 to 38.5 dB depending on fan speed, and the outdoor unit's is 55.5 dB. Do Not Disturb mutes beeps and the display, which helps in a bedroom. The sheet does not list higher-grade filters or an ioniser, so we do not attribute them to this model. The mesh filters need regular washing, especially in pollen season. For allergy sufferers we suggest planning the first wash a few weeks into the season, because in a newly renovated flat construction dust settles on filters faster than it will later.
The Midea Smart Kit is included in the set. It is the module that enables control of the air conditioner through an app over your home Wi-Fi (WLAN). That means that without any extra purchase you can switch cooling on from your phone before leaving work, change the mode to 3D Surround or check whether the unit was turned off. At start-up we connect the module to your network and check that the connection works where the unit is mounted, because in flats with thick walls the router's signal can be weak.
The remote remains the main tool for many households, and in this model it has an extra role: thanks to Follow Me, it is where the temperature is measured. It is therefore worth keeping it where you usually spend time, not in a drawer. The remote also controls vertical and horizontal airflow direction.
Several functions concern everyday convenience and safety. Do Not Disturb mutes signals and switches off the LED display. Standby consumption is 1 W according to Midea. The unit has self-diagnostics, which helps a technician find the cause of a fault more quickly, and a refrigerant leak alarm that signals a problem with the refrigerant circuit. Such an alarm does not replace a service visit, but it shortens the time a fault goes unnoticed. If the warning appears, switch the unit off and contact service rather than restarting it to see what happens.
The indoor unit is white, measures 940 x 193 x 325 mm (width, depth, height) and weighs 10.7 kg. It is a wide casing, which follows from the side slots needed for 3D Surround. When planning the position, you need to leave free space on both sides of the unit, because blocking the slots with a wardrobe or a curtain rail will limit the very mode you chose this model for. The 193 mm depth is modest, so the casing does not stick far out of the wall.
The MOB01-12HFN8-QRD6GW(A) outdoor unit has a casing in a style Midea calls Diamond Design. Its heat exchanger carries a Golden Fin coating that protects it against corrosion. This is a material protection, not a cleaning function, but for a unit that sits on a balcony or a facade all year round it makes practical sense.
When choosing where the outdoor unit goes, we take into account its 55.5 dB sound pressure, the distance to bedroom windows, service access and condensate drainage, which also appears on the outdoor side in heating mode. On a facade of a building run by a housing community we check the rules before installation. Sometimes a balcony or a loggia turns out to be a better spot, where the unit is sheltered and can be reached without a lift.
We start with a free survey, where we pick a place for the indoor unit with clear sides for the 3D Surround slots and agree the route to the outdoor unit. Midea gives a maximum pipe length of 25 m, counted as equivalent length, that is, including bends and elbows. In practice the actual route, if it has many bends, may need to be somewhat shorter, which is why we measure it on site.
The standard scope covers mounting the indoor and outdoor units, up to a few metres of refrigerant, electrical and condensate lines, the wall penetration and a neat routing of the installation. We then pull a vacuum and check the system for leaks, charge it with refrigerant, start the unit, check its operating parameters and set up the controls including the Smart Kit. We finish with a walkthrough of how to use it and hand over the warranty documents. Extra charges, if needed, are discussed before work starts: a longer line set, drilling through concrete or reinforced concrete, wall chasing, a condensate pump, work from a lift. We quote the installed price after a free assessment.
In use, remember to wash the filters every few weeks during the season and to book an annual service. The leak alarm and self-diagnostics help catch a problem, but a service visit with a leak check and cleaning of the heat exchanger is still needed.
The Midea Breezeless 3.5 kW is a choice for people who are bothered by direct airflow. The 3D Surround and Silky Cool modes, 360° airflow control from the remote and Follow Me are all aimed at gentle cooling with people in the room. Add SEER 8.5 in class A+++, fan control across 1–100% and temperature setting in 0.5°C steps. The Wi-Fi module is in the box, so the app works without extra purchases. It fits well in a bedroom, a child's room or a home office, the places where someone spends many hours in a row near the air conditioner.
It is a weaker fit where wall space is tight, because the 940 mm width and the need for clear sides take up room. If heating the flat in winter is your main goal, it is worth reviewing the full heating efficiency documentation with us before deciding, since this page gives only the operating range from -15°C and the capacities.
