The Rotenso Fresh in the 3.5 kW variant is a wall-mounted inverter split air conditioner that, besides cooling and heating, can provide a constant intake of fresh air from outside. The manufacturer presents this function as a solution that can replace traditional airing, especially in modern, airtight buildings. The nominal capacity is 3.5 kW in cooling and 3.8 kW in heating, and the SEER 8.5 and SCOP 4.6 figures give an A+++ class in cooling and A++ in heating.
The fresh air passes through an EPA E12 filter, and a TVOC air quality sensor keeps you informed about its condition. For people who live by a busy Warsaw street and are reluctant to open the windows, that is a concrete argument. The indoor unit runs from 19 to 42 dB, so it stays very quiet at night, and the automatic 4D louvres let you set the airflow direction with the remote or a wall controller.
Heating is declared down to -22 °C outdoors and cooling down to -15 °C, which makes the Fresh a year-round unit. The Smart Life app allows control from a phone. We give the installed price after a free assessment, because we agree the route of the installation and of the fresh air intake during the audit. The model is for those who, besides temperature, also want to control the air quality in the room and cut down on tiresome airing with closed windows. Below we describe how the unit works day to day, what its limits are and what our installation covers, so that you can compare it with other models using concrete numbers.
The Rotenso Fresh stands out in the manufacturer's range as an air conditioner with an air exchange function. An ordinary split only recirculates the air that is already in the room. The Fresh additionally brings air in from outside, filters it and releases it into the room. The manufacturer describes this as a continuous air exchange without opening the windows, which reduces the feeling of stuffiness and improves comfort in airtight buildings.
The 3.5 kW variant delivers 3.5 kW of nominal capacity in cooling and 3.8 kW in heating. The compressor modulation range is from 1.0 to 4.0 kW in cooling and from 1.0 to 4.5 kW in heating, which lets the unit match its output to momentary needs. It is a model for people for whom air quality matters as much as temperature, for example allergy sufferers, families with small children or residents of areas with poorer air. Keep in mind that the nominal capacity applies to a specific variant, not to the whole series, so our quote always names the exact model and its technical data. That way you compare the same parameters, not general catalogue slogans.
If all you care about is the cheapest cooling in a heatwave, the Fresh will be richer than you need. If, however, you want to close the windows against the street and still have fresh air in the bedroom, its features meet exactly that need. We always check capacity selection and the route of the air intake at a free assessment in your flat. For an average-sized bedroom this capacity is usually enough, but we decide only after seeing the room, its sun exposure and insulation.
The refrigeration circuit is based on a DC inverter that smoothly changes the compressor speed according to demand. The fans are driven by energy-saving BLDC motors and the refrigerant is R32. The manufacturer indicates this gas as a solution with a lower environmental impact than older refrigerants, in line with the F-gas requirements. Thanks to the smooth operation of the inverter, the room temperature changes gently, without frequent compressor starts, which favours quietness and the durability of the unit.
The SEER is 8.5, which corresponds to the A+++ class in cooling, and the SCOP of 4.6 gives the A++ class in heating. In practice this means very high efficiency in summer and good efficiency in winter, although real energy use is decided by the insulation of the premises and the way the unit is used. Cooling is available at outdoor temperatures from -15 °C to 53 °C and heating from -22 °C to 30 °C. That range is enough for Warsaw winters, but somewhat narrower than in models designed to work in extreme frost. A high SEER matters most in summer, when the air conditioner runs the longest, and the lower SCOP in heating means that as the main winter heat source it needs a more careful assessment of the building.
Winter operation is supported by a drip tray heater, which helps melt snow and ice in the outdoor unit, and by crankcase heating of the compressor before starting at low temperature. The SMART 8 °C heating function switches heating on by itself so that the room does not cool down too far while you are away. Auto-restart memory restores the previous settings after a brief power cut.
This is the most important chapter in the case of the Fresh. The unit draws in air from outside and passes it through an EPA E12 filter, which retains fine dust, allergens and bacteria. The manufacturer points out that this matters for allergy sufferers and people sensitive to pollution. In addition, a TVOC sensor monitors the air in real time and reports its quality, so it is easier to react when conditions in the room get worse. Improving air quality does not remove the need for basic hygiene. It is good to air the room the traditional way from time to time and to keep the filters clean.
The indoor unit's noise level lies between 19 and 42 dB, and the outdoor unit is rated at 51 dB. In Windless mode the air leaves in a gentle, diffused stream, without a direct blast. A wide airflow angle, a super quiet mode and automatic 4D louvres help distribute the air evenly. Before airflow starts in heating mode, the unit first starts the refrigeration circuit so as not to blow cold air. Anyone who has to keep the windows shut on hot days because of noise or dust will appreciate being able to cool while still receiving filtered air.
The iAIR and iClean functions serve interior hygiene: drying the exchanger after cooling operation and a cycle in which the exchanger is chilled hard and then heated. An HD iAIR pre-filter is added. These functions complement maintenance but do not replace it. The filters still have to be cleaned regularly, and the fresh air filter needs checking and replacing according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Operation is based on the wireless remote control, and the vertical and horizontal louvres are controlled from the remote or a wall controller thanks to built-in actuators. The louvre position is remembered, so after switching on again the unit returns to its last setting. SMART Follow mode uses an additional temperature sensor in the controller to regulate operation by the temperature where you are sitting.
Control from a phone or tablet is possible thanks to the SMART WiFi function and the Smart Life app. The manufacturer notes that the Wi-Fi module is an additional feature of the product and the app is supplied by an external developer, so we confirm the contents of the set with the customer when quoting. Once the app is configured you can switch the air conditioner on on your way from work, check the air quality or change mode from another room. If you buy the unit with children or older relatives in mind, changing settings from a phone can be convenient, because you do not have to enter the room to change the mode. It is worth agreeing among the household who may change the settings, to avoid conflicting commands.
For convenient use there are also a timer, a sleep function, a turbo mode that shortens the time to reach the set temperature and an Eco mode that limits energy use. The panel display can be switched off at night and sound signals muted with the silent mode. The self-diagnosis function displays a code in case of a fault, which helps the service technician find the cause quickly. For people who do not want to dig into settings, a few basic modes on the remote are enough.
The indoor unit measures 888 mm in width, 205 mm in depth and 313 mm in height, and weighs 11 kg. It is a classic horizontal wall shape that takes little wall space but needs free room below the ceiling and in front of the outlet. Because the Fresh takes fresh air from outside, the installation layout is somewhat more involved than for an ordinary split, which has to be considered when choosing the mounting location.
Condensate is drained from the left side of the indoor unit, so it is worth allowing for that direction when planning the route. This is important for customers with limited options for running pipes along the wall, and it is exactly what we check during the audit. If the route on the left is inconvenient, we look for another position for the unit or a solution with a condensate pump. We usually ask the customer about the planned mounting spot and then check on site whether the unit fits above the furniture and whether the airflow will not point directly at a bed or desk. Thanks to the 4D louvres the airflow direction can easily be corrected later, so it does not have to be perfect at installation.
The heat exchangers in the indoor and outdoor units have a gold anti-corrosion coating. The manufacturer mentions its self-cleaning properties, but this is protection of the exchanger against corrosion, not a self-cleaning function of the unit. The outdoor unit has a noise level of 51 dB, so when choosing its location we consider neighbouring windows and balconies as well as access for service.
Installing the Rotenso Fresh includes mounting the indoor and outdoor units and running up to a few metres of refrigerant, electrical and condensate routes. We make the wall penetration and route the installation neatly. We then evacuate the system and check it for leaks, charge it with refrigerant and start the unit. Finally we check the operating parameters, configure the controls, give a briefing on operation and hand over the warranty documents. The maximum installation length according to the manufacturer is 25 m.
We agree the scope of work at a free assessment, including how the fresh air intake is routed. Possible surcharges are discussed before work starts: a longer route, drilling through concrete or reinforced concrete, wall chasing, a condensate pump or work from a lift platform. We quote the installed price after a free assessment, so the customer knows what is in scope before we begin. When the work is done we clean up and check that all openings are neatly finished and the route is protected.
In use, the most important things are regular filter cleaning, checking that the condensate drain is clear and an annual service. With a model that has a fresh air intake, also pay attention to the condition of that circuit's filter, because dirt on it affects airflow. The service covers checking the tightness of the system and the cleanliness of the exchangers. After installation we show you how to remove and wash the filters and how to use the most important modes. If you notice worrying noise, a drop in performance or a leak, contact us before the problem grows.
The Rotenso Fresh 3.5 kW is a proposal for people who want to combine air conditioning with ventilation. A typical customer lives in an airtight, modern flat and feels stuffiness with the windows closed, or is sensitive to air pollution. The EPA E12 filter, the TVOC sensor and an indoor unit from 19 dB make a set aimed at the bedroom and living room.
In terms of efficiency the model has SEER 8.5 and SCOP 4.6, and heating down to -22 °C. Compared with models designed for extreme frost, this offer is geared more towards air quality than record-low temperatures. If your main criterion is heating in very hard frost, consider another model from our range. If you want full clarity on which functions come in the set, ask at the quote stage, because the manufacturer treats some elements, such as the Wi-Fi module, as additional.
The best step is a free assessment in your flat: we will check the capacity, the mounting location and the possibility of routing the fresh air intake, and then present a quote with installation. It is a rational choice for someone who wants to invest in the comfort of breathing, not only in a lower temperature. Contact LeoKlima and we will arrange a date in Warsaw.
