The Samsung WindFree Comfort S2 3.5 kW (indoor unit AR60F12C1AWNEU, outdoor unit AR60F12C1AWXEU) is an air conditioner for people who dislike a cold draught above all else. Instead of aiming a narrow jet at the occupant, the unit's panel scatters the air through 23,000 micro-perforations, so the room fills with what the manufacturer calls calm air. You cool down quietly, without the feeling that someone is standing behind you with a fan. It suits those hot evenings when the flat is still warm and you want to fall asleep without a rushing noise and without shifting position to escape the stream.
The figures behind this description come from Samsung's leaflet: 3.5 kW cooling capacity (from 0.9 kW to 4.2 kW), 4.0 kW heating capacity, seasonal efficiency of SEER 7.6 in cooling and SCOP 4.6 in heating, both in class A++, and an indoor sound pressure level from 16 to 40 dB(A). The outdoor unit reaches 46 dB(A). The circuit runs on R32 refrigerant.
The manufacturer places the model in its range just behind the Elite S2 and Avant S2 versions, as a solution that balances performance and ease of use. For a customer with a flat in Warsaw that means getting the core benefits of WindFree technology, no cold draughts and quiet operation, without an extensive set of extras. We quote the installed price after a free assessment.
The WindFree Comfort S2 is the entry proposal in the WindFree line, while still sitting in the premium segment. Samsung places it in its range behind the Elite S2 and Avant S2: it is meant to keep what matters most in this technology, cooling without perceptible wind and a low noise level, and to give up what raises complexity. As a result the unit is easy to understand even for someone who has never had air conditioning before.
The 3.5 kW variant consists of the AR60F12C1AWNEU (indoor) and AR60F12C1AWXEU (outdoor) units. The cooling modulation range runs from 0.9 to 4.2 kW, so the unit copes both with heat and with milder days, when it runs at low output. Heating capacity is 4.0 kW. The leaflet gives no minimum-to-maximum range for heating output, so we do not quote one.
We take the technical data from Samsung's 2025 leaflet in its French version, as it is the most complete source for this variant. For that reason we repeat no claims that the leaflet does not make.
Set up this way, the model answers a typical situation in a Warsaw flat: a south-facing room heats up in the afternoon, and in the evening the household wants to rest without humming and without air blown in their faces. In that role the WindFree Comfort S2 replaces a traditional split with a higher noise level, but we promise nothing beyond what follows from the manufacturer's figures.
WindFree cooling is the core of this model. Instead of a single jet, the air leaves through 23,000 micro-perforations and mixes with the air in the room at a very low speed. The manufacturer claims that the complex structure of such a flow cools a larger area more evenly. In WindFree mode the unit runs at about 23 dB(A), measured in an anechoic chamber, which translates into near-whisper quiet. For someone choosing an air conditioner this matters: silence here is one of the model's main design aims, not an extra.
In terms of efficiency the model reaches SEER 7.6 and SCOP 4.6, and its energy class is A++ for both cooling and heating. These are good but not record figures, and that is how we treat them: a solid result for a unit that puts comfort ahead of the highest possible index.
The outdoor unit's operating range is from -10 to 46 °C in cooling and from -15 to 24 °C in heating. In practice this means the air conditioner can top up your heating on cooler days in autumn and spring, but it is not presented as a unit for freezing winters; that is a judgement based on the -15 °C limit.
It is worth remembering that 3.5 kW is the rated output, and the unit spends most of its time running below it. The inverter lowers output when the temperature is close to the set value and so avoids frequent compressor starts and stops. For you that means a steadier temperature and fewer swings in noise level than with simpler units. The exact effect depends on the flat, so we quote no savings in zloty or per cent.
For comfort, quiet is what counts most. The indoor unit's quietest setting is 16 dB(A), and at full fan speed the level rises to 40 dB(A). The outdoor unit reaches 46 dB(A). Samsung also gives about 23 dB(A) for WindFree mode, a value at which it is hard to hear anything in a bedroom.
The AI Auto Comfort function learns your preferences and suggests the most comfortable temperature within a range of 22 to 26 °C. If you do not want to pick the numbers yourself, you can rely on that suggestion. The Freeze Wash function cleans the heat exchanger, so the unit does part of the housekeeping itself. The leaflet mentions neither separate anti-allergy filters nor ionisation, so we do not describe them.
The front panel can be removed easily for cleaning. This feature matters more than it seems: an accessible casing means you remove dust from inside without tools and without calling a technician every time. Taking the panel off for washing is worth repeating before the cooling season and after it, because that is when the unit works hardest.
For people sensitive to dry air it matters that an air conditioner does not blow onto the skin or eyes. A diffused flow helps, because there is no single point where cold air lands. This does not mean air purification: the manufacturer does not claim that in the leaflet. So keep the filters and panel washed regularly, because they decide how clean the airflow is.
A SolarCell remote is in the set, and the manufacturer lists it among the equipment, so you do not need to buy one. That way your first day with the air conditioner does not begin with a search for accessories, and basic operation works as soon as the installer starts the unit.
The manufacturer lists Wi-Fi with the SmartThings app. Through it you set the temperature and modes and make use of AI Auto Comfort. The leaflet does not say outright, however, whether the connectivity module is fitted at the factory or bought separately, so when we quote we check this for the specific set and do not promise it without confirmation. If you prefer not to use a phone, the remote in the set is enough for daily operation.
Wired controllers can also be connected, but this requires the MIM-A00N interface. For most flats the remote and the app are enough, while a wall controller makes sense where several people use the air conditioner and it is handy to have a panel on the wall next to the light switch.
For clarity: SmartThings is Samsung's app for managing devices around the home, so if you already use it, the air conditioner will land in the same place as the rest of your equipment. If you do not, the remote is enough for daily use and you can add the app later. The leaflet does not describe operating schedules, so we do not assume they are available.
The indoor unit casing is white, and the new white display has been optimised for readability. The dimensions are 889 mm wide, 299 mm high and 215 mm deep, and the weight is 9.9 kg. With that weight and depth the unit fits a standard wall-mounted format; we check the space on the wall during the audit. For everyday cleaning of the outer casing a soft, slightly damp cloth is enough, while the inside is cleaned after removing the panel.
A detail appreciated by people who clean regularly: the front panel comes off without tools. Underneath you find the parts that need cleaning, with no need to dismantle the whole casing. The Freeze Wash function cleans the heat exchanger but does not replace normal maintenance.
The leaflet describes no special finishes, so we stick to what can be seen: a light, plain body in white that does not stand out in a contemporary interior.
When choosing a spot on the wall, remember a simple rule: the indoor unit is 889 mm wide, so it needs a clear strip above the furniture and some distance from the ceiling for the air intake. We determine the exact place, the distance from the window and the route of the pipes during the audit, together with the position of the outdoor unit.
The manufacturer gives no other colour versions for this variant, so we assume white only. The white display is optimised for readability, which makes it easier to read the settings from across the room.
Installation by LeoKlima covers mounting the indoor and outdoor units, running up to a few metres of refrigerant, electrical and condensate routing, and making the wall passage with a neat arrangement of the installation. Then we evacuate the system, check it for tightness, charge it with refrigerant and start the air conditioner. We finish by checking the operating parameters, configuring the controls, explaining how to use the unit and handing over the warranty documents.
The manufacturer allows a maximum installation length of 15 m, which matters if the outdoor unit is to stand further from the room. We agree the scope of work during a free audit. Possible surcharges, discussed before the work, are a longer route, drilling through concrete or reinforced concrete, chasing walls, a condensate pump and work from a lift platform.
Service comes down to a few repeated tasks: washing the filters and the removed panel, checking the condensate drain and an annual inspection. We quote the installed price after a free assessment.
Before the first season we recommend checking that the condensate drain is clear and washing the filters. While the unit runs, watch for any smell or a clear rise in noise, because these are the most common signs that it needs cleaning. When they are absent, an annual inspection is enough.
If the room is far from where the outdoor unit will stand, tell us at the first contact. We measure the pipe route and the way the installation is laid on site, and for longer runs we describe possible surcharges before we start work.
Choose the WindFree Comfort S2 if your main criteria are no draught and low noise, and extended extras matter little to you. A bedroom, a child's room or a study where you work in concentration are natural homes for this model: WindFree mode about 23 dB(A), and the quietest setting 16 dB(A). If you care about quiet more than novelties, it is a sensible choice. It is worth comparing it with other models in our catalogue, but we do the comparison on figures, such as noise level, operating range and equipment, not on series names alone.
This is not the choice for someone seeking the highest seasonal class or operation in hard frost. SEER 7.6 and SCOP 4.6 are reasonable values, and the lower heating limit of -15 °C is enough for transitional use. If winter heating is your number one goal, let us discuss it before you buy.
We quote the installed price after a free assessment. During the visit we measure the room, show where both units can go and describe what is in scope and what may need a surcharge.
Finally, a short list of questions to ask before ordering: how large the room is and how many windows it has, whether the air conditioner should also run in autumn and spring, where the outdoor unit will stand and whether the pipe route fits within 15 m. The answers will show whether 3.5 kW is enough and let us describe the scope of installation precisely.
