AUX J-Smart is a wall-mounted air conditioner in which most of what is usually bought separately has been placed by the manufacturer on the list of standard features. Nominal cooling capacity is 3.5 kW, heating capacity is 3.8 kW, and the working refrigerant is R32. The manufacturer describes a built-in Wi-Fi module with a weekly programmer, a UV lamp, a PM2.5 filter, an antibacterial filter and a high-density filter. The set consists of the units AUX-12J2O/I and AUX-12J2O/O.
The numbers are modest but honest: class A++ for cooling (SEER 6.19) and A+ for heating (SCOP 4.03). The indoor unit runs at a sound pressure level of 20 to 38 dB, and the outdoor unit is rated at 56 dB. Cooling is specified from an outdoor temperature of -10°C, heating from -22°C. The indoor unit is 790 mm wide, 292 mm high and 206 mm deep, and weighs 8.5 kg.
The casing is white and matt, with a simple, minimalist form. The manufacturer states that the J-Smart series received the iF Design Award in 2019. This is a budget model: its strength is not record efficiency but a full set of functions in one unit. We quote the installed price after a free assessment, and below we go through what this set offers in daily use.
A good starting point for J-Smart is the feature list rather than the capacity table. The manufacturer lists as standard, among others: UV lamp sterilisation, self-cleaning, mould protection, three kinds of filters, an economy mode, a 0.3 W standby mode, self-diagnosis, a 24-hour timer and an LED display. On top of that comes a built-in Wi-Fi module. For someone buying a first air conditioner for a flat who does not want to add accessories, such a set simplifies the decision.
In terms of output, J-Smart in this variant is the classic 3.5 kW in cooling and 3.8 kW in heating. The compressor's operating ranges are wide: from 0.8 kW to 4.1 kW in cooling and from 1.0 kW to 4.2 kW in heating, so the unit can step down on milder days when little is needed to hold the temperature. Efficiency is average for this bracket: SEER 6.19 and SCOP 4.03, classes A++ and A+.
The model is therefore a proposal for a person choosing between price and number of functions who wants as much as possible included as standard. We are not looking for noise or efficiency records here, but for a practical compromise, and we take its details apart in the following sections. If something specific matters to you, for example operation in very low temperature, we will check it together when quoting. The same rule applies to dimensions, wall space and Wi-Fi coverage: we prefer to clear them up before ordering rather than after installation. That way the decision rests on facts from the product sheet, not on a general impression from a brochure.
J-Smart has an inverter compressor and R32 refrigerant. The manufacturer explains why R32: its GWP is 675, it can be recycled, and the system needs 30% less refrigerant than in older solutions. It also states that energy efficiency is higher and toxicity low. These are the manufacturer's arguments; in daily use what matters most is that R32 is widely used and well known to service companies.
In heating, the unit is equipped with an outdoor drip-tray heater and intelligent defrosting. The manufacturer cites heating at -22°C. In cooling the lower operating limit is -10°C. Upper limits are not given, so we do not describe them. There is also a heating mode to 8°C, which maintains a minimum temperature in an unused room.
Two numbers are worth keeping in mind. The first is SEER 6.19, meaning class A++ in cooling. The second is SCOP 4.03, meaning class A+ in heating. The manufacturer claims the unit meets European Union energy-efficiency requirements. There are more functions here than record parameters, so it is sensible to judge this model by the completeness of its equipment, not by the size of the electricity bill. The economy mode and the low standby draw (0.3 W) help limit consumption when the unit sits switched off, but they do not change the energy class. The inverter compressor runs over a wide speed range, which in mild temperatures means calmer operation than in units that simply switch on and off. The manufacturer pairs the compressor with R32 to reach its efficiency figures.
The night mode is described in detail and is a good example of how the manufacturer treats comfort. In cooling, for the first two hours the set temperature rises by 1°C per hour, and in heating it falls at the same rate. Then for five hours the unit holds the temperature reached, after which it switches off. The I FEEL function is, according to the manufacturer, an intelligent temperature reading that helps match the setting to the conditions in the room. It is easy to check in practice: compare the temperature you feel by the bed with the one shown on the display and correct the setting by a degree or two.
The indoor unit runs at a sound pressure level of 20 to 38 dB, and in quiet mode its loudness is reduced further. The outdoor unit is rated at 56 dB, which matters for neighbours when it is mounted on a balcony. 4D airflow and the Anti-Cold-Air function are names from the manufacturer's sheet; according to them the aim is gentler airflow and less of a feeling of a cold stream. The louvres move vertically and horizontally, so the airstream can be turned away from the bed or desk. In a room where two people sleep, it is worth choosing this setting together, because everyone has a different sensitivity to draughts.
Filtration is a broad part of the programme. The UV lamp is meant to sterilise the air, and the manufacturer cites 99% effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of viruses, fungi and microorganisms. According to the manufacturer the PM2.5 filter removes 99.9% of pollutants of that size. The antibacterial filter has a coating with substances that inhibit bacterial growth, and the high-density filter holds back dust and dirt. There is also a 57°C sterilisation function and mould protection. These are the manufacturer's claims; they need ordinary care for filter cleanliness, since the washable air filter simply has to be washed regularly.
Here J-Smart has an advantage over many budget units: the Wi-Fi module is built in as standard and works with a weekly programmer. The manufacturer stresses that the app has many functions, including a timer, so there is no need to buy extra controllers. Through the app you can control the air conditioning from a smartphone, tablet or computer, around the clock.
Besides the app there is a wireless controller, that is a remote, and a 24-hour timer. In practice you can therefore set the unit to the rhythm of your day: switching off while you are out and on before you return. For a flat in Warsaw that is more convenient than adding a separate wall controller. We connect the configuration to the Wi-Fi network at the customer's home during commissioning.
Wi-Fi itself needs a stable signal where the indoor unit hangs. Before we settle on the mounting spot, it is worth checking coverage with a phone. The self-diagnosis function helps a technician analyse faults, and automatic restart restores the last settings after a power cut. These are small things, but in a flat where power is sometimes switched off they make life easier. The unit has an LED display that shows current settings without reaching for the phone. At first start-up we show how to pair the app, how to set the weekly schedule and how to check that changes from the phone actually reach the unit. Only after that test do we consider the configuration complete.
J-Smart is white and matt, with a simple form. The manufacturer writes about minimalism and says that white is meant to be a quiet background for the interior. This has a practical effect: a matt surface shows fingerprints and dust less than a glossy one. The series received, as the manufacturer reports, the iF Design Award in 2019; we treat that as information about the direction of the design, not as a guarantee that the casing will please everyone.
The indoor unit measures 790 mm in width, 292 mm in height and 206 mm in depth, and weighs 8.5 kg. The manufacturer describes a construction in which easy removal of the lower cover makes installation and servicing easier. The airflow is controlled by a patented system, and the louvres have an ergonomic shape to distribute air evenly.
The outdoor unit has an anti-corrosion casing, and the fins of both units are gold-plated; the blades are made of hydrophilic aluminium. The manufacturer lists these as construction features, not cleaning functions, and we treat them that way. They are worth regarding as extra protection against corrosion, especially when the outdoor unit hangs on a facade exposed to rain. Condensate drainage is two-sided, which gives more freedom when routing the pipe. For the customer that often means that on a difficult wall you can choose the more convenient side for the outlet instead of running the installation around the room. We always judge this on site, because in the end the placement of windows, wardrobes and cables in the wall decides.
We quote the installed price after a free assessment. Installation covers: mounting the indoor and outdoor units, up to a few metres of refrigerant, electrical and condensate run, passing through the wall and tidy routing of the installation, vacuuming and a leak check of the system, charging with refrigerant, commissioning, checking the operating parameters and configuring the controls, and at the end instruction on use and handing over the warranty documents.
Possible surcharges are discussed before work begins. They include a longer installation run, drilling through concrete or reinforced concrete, wall chasing, a condensate pump and work from a lift platform. We set the scope at the free assessment. The manufacturer's data for this variant does not give a maximum installation length, so we check the permitted distance between the units on site.
Operation involves washing the washable air filter and a periodic service check. The construction with an easily removed lower cover of the indoor unit makes servicing easier. The model numbers, AUX-12J2O/I and AUX-12J2O/O, are worth having at hand when reporting a request. After installation we check condensate drainage and the operation of all the modes we showed during the instruction. The washable air filter is washed and dried before it goes back in place. It is worth doing this regularly, and more often in the season of heavy use, because a dirty filter worsens airflow and can raise the noise level.
J-Smart is for someone looking for a functional air conditioner for a flat who does not want to pay extra for separate modules: Wi-Fi with a programmer, filtration, UV sterilisation and a detailed night mode are in the manufacturer's description as standard elements. For a bedroom where night-time temperature control and a low noise level from 20 dB count, it is a sensible direction.
It is not a model for someone who counts above all on record energy efficiency. SEER 6.19 and SCOP 4.03 are average values. There is also no data on maximum installation length, so in flats where the outdoor unit has to stand far away the route must be inspected first. In turn, the claims about sterilisation and filtration effectiveness come from the manufacturer.
If J-Smart looks like a good candidate, book a free assessment with LeoKlima. We will check the place for both units, the installation route and Wi-Fi coverage. We quote the installed price after a free assessment, and any surcharges are discussed before work begins. When choosing between this and other models in our range, we suggest starting with the question of which functions you will really use: if they are Wi-Fi, a schedule and filtration, J-Smart gathers them in one unit. If efficiency or detailed installation data matter more, it is better to talk about other units.
