The Hisense Comfort 3.5 kW, that is the DJ35VE0BG set with the DJ35VE0BW outdoor unit, is the manufacturer's basic inverter series. The Hisense page describes it as an air conditioner with an A++ class in cooling and an A+ class in heating, with Wi-Fi built in for control from an app. The manufacturer presents this feature as part of the standard equipment, not as an optional extra. For a flat where convenient phone control matters, that is a concrete starting point.

The figures are moderate and honest. The nominal cooling output is 3.5 kW (from 1.2 to 4.1 kW) and the heating output is 4.0 kW (from 1.6 to 4.3 kW). The SEER is 6.1 and the SCOP is 4.0. It is therefore not equipment for record savings, but it does not demand heavy electricity use either. The indoor unit runs quietly in the range from 28 to 40 dB, and the casing, weighing 8.5 kg and measuring 815, 210 and 275 mm, fits in a typical living room or bedroom.

The manufacturer has equipped the model with automatic 4D swing, a 4-in-1 filter, a Smart mode and several sleep modes. It works well in a flat where ease of operation from a phone and general running refinement count. We quote the installed price after a free assessment, once the position of the units and the installation route are agreed. This combines everyday convenience with moderate demands on the installation.

Overview and positioning

The Comfort is the basic series in the Hisense range. The manufacturer does not try to suggest it is a flagship model; its strength is a set of practical functions in a typical wall-mounted casing. The list includes an inverter, an A++ class in cooling, an A+ class in heating and Wi-Fi for control from an app, which according to the manufacturer's description is built in. For a customer in Warsaw who wants a sensible air conditioner for a bedroom or living room, that is a concrete starting point. It is not a proposition for someone seeking the highest seasonal figures, but for a person who values simplicity and phone control it is enough with room to spare.

The set consists of the indoor unit DJ35VE0BG and the outdoor unit DJ35VE0BW. The refrigerant is R32. The cooling output modulates from 1.2 to 4.1 kW and the heating output from 1.6 to 4.3 kW, which lets the unit match its work to the momentary demand. The nominal data refer to the 3.5 kW variant, intended for a room of medium size. If we are unsure about the output, we check the room volume, sun exposure and number of occupants at the assessment.

It is worth noting that the manufacturer's page contains inconsistencies between the advertising text and the parameter table, especially regarding noise. For that reason our description uses only the figures from the technical table. This is our rule for every model: if the data conflict, we choose those that can be verified in the specification. That way the description stays consistent with what you actually get in the box.

Cooling and heating technology

The QSD technology, the inverter quick start, is meant to speed up cooling of the room. According to the manufacturer it cools the room 50% faster than ordinary air conditioners. We treat this as a marketing claim, but the direction is clear: after switching on, the unit quickly goes to higher speed and then lowers it. In practice, on a hot day the first minutes after switching on are the loudest, after which the unit settles into calmer operation and holds the temperature.

The seasonal parameters are a SEER of 6.1 in cooling (class A++) and a SCOP of 4.0 in heating (class A+). These are moderate figures, but for a single room in which the air conditioner works a few hours a day, the difference on the bill is often small. The Eco mode limits energy use to 70%, and the maintenance heating function holds 8 degrees when nobody is at home. That 8-degree function is useful for people who go away for a few days in winter and do not want the flat to cool completely, although it does not replace normal heating of the building.

The operating range in cooling is -15 to 43 °C, and in heating -15 to 24 °C. Heating therefore ends at -15 °C, so in hard frost we do not count on high heating output. We treat the air conditioner as support for your heating in the transitional seasons, not as the only source of warmth in winter. On the cooling side the upper limit of 43 °C covers the heat that occurs in Poland. Outside that range the unit may limit its work, so we do not plan places that heat up extremely.

Comfort and air quality

According to the manufacturer's table, the noise of the indoor unit ranges from 28 to 40 dB. The advertising text on the page promises a much lower value in the super quiet mode, but the table does not confirm it, so we do not base the description on it. Realistically: on the lowest speed the room is quiet, and on the highest the unit is clearly audible. For sleeping we choose the sleep mode and low speed. The number of fan speeds is high, so you can smoothly find a compromise between silence and cooling speed.

The 4-in-1 filter combines catechin, silver ions, a photocatalyst and a HEPA filter. The manufacturer describes it as capturing dust, bacteria and odours. In addition, the louvres with silver ions have antibacterial and anti-mould properties. It is not an air purifier, but for allergy sufferers it is a sensible complement. The filters still need to be checked regularly, because a clogged element worsens the airflow. Remember also that no filter replaces ventilating the room, and an air conditioner does not bring in fresh air from outside.

The automatic 4D swing directs the airflow left, right, up and down, so the air spreads more evenly. The Smart mode selects the most comfortable operating mode, and four sleep modes adjust the temperature to the user at night. Self-cleaning of the evaporator reduces the risk of moisture inside the unit. Combined with the automatic direction of the airflow, it avoids a draught on fixed spots such as the bed or the desk, which is the most common complaint of air-conditioning users.

Controls and Wi-Fi

The main advantage of this model is the Wi-Fi, which according to the manufacturer's description is built in and lets you control the air conditioner from an app. You can switch the unit on before coming home, change the temperature from the sofa or check that you really did turn the air conditioner off. At the quote stage we agree how to connect it to your home network, and at commissioning we show the basics of operation. We only add that we check the way it connects to the network at commissioning, because the range of a home router varies and sometimes the access point has to be moved.

For everyday use there is also a remote with an LCD display, and the unit has an LED display on the panel. A 24-hour timer lets you schedule the unit's operation, so you can set cooling to start an hour before you return from work. The auto-restart function restores the previous settings after a power cut. This set of functions makes operation accessible for every member of the household, without studying a manual.

If you do not use the app, the unit works fully with the remote. Settings such as the sleep modes or Eco are available from both ways of control. The handover after installation covers both paths, so even an older member of the household quickly learns the basics. A good habit is to note your favourite settings, such as night and daytime temperatures, so you can quickly return to them when the season changes.

Design and build

The indoor unit is white and measures 815 mm wide, 210 mm deep and 275 mm high. It weighs 8.5 kg. These are dimensions typical for a wall-mounted air conditioner of this class; the casing is compact and does not impose itself on the interior. White suits most rooms, and the simple form makes the surface easy to clean. In a flat with light walls the unit almost disappears into the background, and the discreet LED display on the panel does not glare in a bedroom.

The front panel is removable and washable, and the PP filter can be rinsed. It is a small but practical matter in daily upkeep: you do not need tools to clean the unit, and servicing does not require taking the whole indoor unit off the wall. The condensate connection can be led out to the left or the right side, which makes it easier to adapt to conditions in the flat. We take the dimensions of the indoor unit into account when choosing the position, leaving a free air intake above the unit and a proper distance from furniture.

The manufacturer describes the heat exchanger as copper tubes with aluminium fins and the compressor as a rotary type. We do not attribute to these parts functions the manufacturer does not declare. We do take care that, during installation, the lines run neatly and the outdoor unit stands in a place that does not disturb the facade or the neighbours. It is a simple, functional construction without ornaments, whose task is reliable everyday operation.

Installation and service

The installation scope includes: mounting the indoor and outdoor units, up to a few metres of refrigerant, electrical and condensate routes, passing through the wall and neat routing of the installation. We evacuate the system and check it for leaks, charge it with refrigerant and start the unit. We check the operating parameters, configure the controls, walk you through operation and hand over the warranty documents. We carry out all the steps in one visit, and afterwards we clean up and check that condensate drains properly. We always confirm the scope of work with you before installation begins.

The maximum installation length according to the manufacturer is 15 m, so for longer routes this model may not be suitable. Extra charges may result from a longer route, drilling through concrete or reinforced concrete, chasing, a condensate pump or work from a lift platform. We discuss them before the work, and the scope is agreed at the free assessment. If your route is longer than that limit, we will recommend a model that copes better with the distance between the units.

After installation remember to clean the filters during the season and to arrange an annual inspection. An inspection before the cooling season lets us check the condensate drain, the tightness of the system and the state of the exchangers. A well-maintained air conditioner runs more quietly, more economically and for longer. If you notice noise, a smell or a drop in performance, contact us earlier than the end of the season, because a minor fault is easier to fix before it turns into something more serious.

Who this model is for — summary

Choose the Hisense Comfort 3.5 kW if you care about control from an app without buying a module, sensible air filtration and a compact white casing. It is a good proposition for a bedroom and a living room of moderate size, where the air conditioner is to cool in summer and top up the heating in spring and autumn. It suits especially well people who are out during the day and want to start cooling from the phone an hour before they return.

Consider another model if you need very quiet operation, record seasonal figures or heating in hard frost: the heating operating range starts at -15 °C and the SCOP is 4.0. We also do not promise anything that is not in the manufacturer's technical table. If you are not sure that 3.5 kW suits your room, we will assess it at the audit and honestly say if another variant would be better.
