The Midea Xtreme Save Lite 3.6 kW, that is the MSAGBU-12HRFN8-L set with the MOX102-12HFN8-L outdoor unit, is a simplified version of the Xtreme Save line. The manufacturer describes it as a basic, economical inverter series. It does not promise novelties at every step, but solid, predictable equipment for daily work: an A++ class in cooling at a SEER of 7.0 and an A+ class in heating at a SCOP of 4.2. For someone looking for an air conditioner for a flat and counting every bit of electricity, it is a sensible proposition.
The distinguishing feature of the model is the iECO mode. According to the manufacturer it keeps you comfortable through an eight-hour night while using about 1.2 kWh, and the saving can reach 60%. Added to that is Racer technology, which lets the unit reach full output quickly after switching on. On a hot evening after coming home from work, that is felt as a faster drop in temperature. These are the manufacturer's claims; actual consumption depends on the room and how the unit is used. The model is therefore a good fit for people who are out during the day and come back to a warm flat.
Two hygiene functions, i-Clean and Dust Away, take care of the heat exchangers of both units. Follow Me, in turn, lets you set the temperature where the remote lies, not where the unit hangs. The description on the manufacturer's page mentions neither Wi-Fi nor an app, so we do not promise control from a phone. We quote the installed price after a free assessment, once the installation route has been agreed.
The Xtreme Save Lite is the slimmed-down version in the Midea range. The manufacturer's page plainly calls it a basic and economical inverter series, and its SEER is 7.0, that is less than in the more expensive variants of the family. For the customer this means an honest compromise: you get an inverter, an A++ class and several sensible functions, but without an extensive package of extras. The nominal cooling output is 3.6 kW, and the modulation range runs from 1.4 to 4.3 kW. Such a choice of parameters reflects the character of the series well: there are no records here, but there is an even, predictable level.
On the heating side the unit delivers 3.8 kW nominal, in a range from 1.0 to 4.4 kW. This design suits a living room or a bedroom of medium size. The refrigerant is R32, and the set consists of the indoor unit MSAGBU-12HRFN8-L and the outdoor unit MOX102-12HFN8-L.
Where does the model work best? Where simplicity matters more than a list of features: in a rented or newly bought flat where the air conditioner simply has to work in summer and top up the heating in the transitional months. If an app matters to you, you should consider other models in our catalogue, because this manufacturer's description does not include one. In practice it is chosen by people who would rather spend on installation quality than on features they will never use.
The system is based on an inverter compressor that smoothly adjusts output according to demand. The high-frequency Racer technology means the unit reaches full output quickly after starting, so a heated room does not wait long for the effect. Once the temperature is close to the setpoint, the system slows down and holds it at low cost. For a tenant this means a shorter wait for a comfortable temperature and fewer surprises on the bills, especially if you switch the unit on every day during the season.
The iECO mode is Midea's own idea for the night. The manufacturer states that over an eight-hour sleep the unit uses about 1.2 kWh and that this gives up to 60% savings. I would not overrate that figure, because it depends on conditions, but the direction is clear: night is when you do not need full power, so the mode cuts operation to a minimum.
The outdoor temperature range is -15 to 50 °C in cooling and -20 to 24 °C in heating. In practice the air conditioner will help on cooler days in autumn and spring, but in hard frost heating output falls, so we treat it as a supplement to your heating. Heating efficiency is a SCOP of 4.2, which gives an A+ class. The wide outdoor range means the model suits use over most of the year, not only in summer, as long as expectations of the heating stay realistic.
The indoor unit runs between 21 and 37 dB, and the outdoor unit is rated at 55.5 dB. These are typical values for mid-range equipment: on the lowest speed the unit is discreet, but with a strong airflow it starts to be audible. The manufacturer also mentions a sleep mode with a very low sound level. In a bedroom it is usually enough to select that mode and forget about the unit. Remember too that the outdoor figure of 55.5 dB applies to the outdoor unit, so when choosing the position we try to keep it away from the neighbours' bedroom windows and your own.
The i-Clean function automatically cleans the indoor heat exchanger of dust, mould and grease. The process consists of freezing, defrosting and drying, so it uses the operation of the system itself instead of extra chemicals. It is a good complement to manual filter cleaning, but does not replace it. The filters still need checking every few weeks during the season. For allergy sufferers and people sensitive to damp it is a sensible extra, because the indoor exchanger, where deposits form most easily, is cleaned automatically after use and not only at the annual service.
Dust Away, in turn, reverses the rotation of the outdoor unit's fan to clear its heat exchanger of deposits. This is something people rarely think about, yet it affects efficiency: a dirty condenser works worse. The manufacturer's description does not mention bio filters or ionisers, so we do not assume the model has them.
The unit is controlled with a remote. The Follow Me function makes the air conditioner respond to the temperature where the remote lies. If you leave it by the bed or on the desk, the temperature will be set for that spot and not for the area near the ceiling where the unit hangs. It is a simple way to avoid the feeling that the whole room is too cold or too warm. In practice it is enough to put the remote on the bedside table, and the unit adapts to the temperature you really feel lying in bed. Just do not put the remote away in a drawer or cover it with a blanket, because the reading would then be distorted.
The model description on the manufacturer's page mentions neither Wi-Fi nor an app, so we do not present them as features of this air conditioner. If control from a phone is important to you, we will point to other items in the catalogue that have it in their description.
For most users the remote is enough: it sets the mode, temperature, fan speed and sleep mode. The handover after installation covers all the functions you will really use, including iECO and Follow Me, so that you save electricity from the first day. If someone at home dislikes new technology, that is an extra plus: there is no account to create, no network to configure and no password to remember, and operation comes down to a few buttons.
The indoor unit is white, rectangular and smooth, without ornaments. It is 835 mm wide, 208 mm deep and 295 mm high, and weighs 8.7 kg. These are dimensions typical for a wall-mounted air conditioner of this output; the unit will fit above a door, a sofa or a wardrobe, provided we leave the gap from the ceiling needed for free air intake. When choosing the position we take into account that the whole body is only 208 mm deep, so it does not stand out from the wall more than necessary.
The simple form makes it easy to match the interior. White goes with most walls and does not draw attention, and the smooth fronts are easy to wipe with a damp cloth. The manufacturer does not describe any special coatings or finishes, so we do not promise any. In rooms with darker walls the white casing will be more visible, but thanks to the plain form it does not look heavy. This is equipment that is meant to work quietly in the background, not serve as decoration.
The set uses the R32 refrigerant. When laying the installation we take care over neat routing of the lines and the choice of position for the outdoor unit, so that it does not disturb the neighbours or spoil the facade. We discuss the scope of work at the assessment, before we start. We hang the unit at a height that allows even distribution of air around the room, and so that it does not blow straight onto the bed or an armchair.
The installation scope includes: mounting the indoor and outdoor units, up to a few metres of refrigerant, electrical and condensate routes, passing through the wall and neat routing of the installation. We evacuate the system and check it for leaks, charge it with refrigerant and start the unit. We check the operating parameters and configure the controls, and finally walk you through operation and hand over the warranty documents. We do the installation so that lines run evenly and as invisibly as possible, and we clean up afterwards. Commissioning ends with a check that condensate drains properly and that the unit responds to the remote.
The manufacturer's page does not give a maximum installation length for this model, so we check the route length in the set documentation before the quote. Extra charges may result from a longer route, drilling through concrete or reinforced concrete, chasing, a condensate pump or work from a lift platform. We discuss them before the work, and the scope is agreed at the free assessment. For the quote, prepare a photo of the wall where the indoor unit is to hang and of the outdoor spot where the outdoor unit will stand. It makes it easier to agree the route in advance, but we confirm the final scope on site.
After installation remember to clean the filters and arrange an annual inspection. The i-Clean and Dust Away functions help keep the exchangers in good condition, but they do not replace a periodic check of the condensate drain, tightness and the state of the installation. An inspection before the cooling season lets us catch small faults before the heat arrives.
Choose the Midea Xtreme Save Lite 3.6 kW if you want an inverter air conditioner from a basic series, with an A++ class, a night mode and automatic cleaning of the exchangers, and remote-control operation is enough for you. It is a good proposition for a bedroom and a room of moderate size. It suits people who are at home mainly in the evening and at night especially well, because that is when the iECO mode makes the most sense. In that scenario the unit works for many hours but in the most economical mode possible, and in the morning it does not leave behind over-chilled, dried-out air.
Consider another model if you expect a phone app, air ionisation or a very low noise level: the manufacturer's description mentions neither of the first two, and the indoor noise reaches 37 dB at the highest speed. We also do not promise anything that is not in the manufacturer's data. If you are not sure that 3.6 kW suits your room, we will judge it at the assessment based on room volume, sun exposure and how many people are there. A unit that is too small or too large does not work well in practice, so we prefer to say so openly before purchase.
We quote the installed price after a free assessment. Write or call LeoKlima and, after seeing the flat, we will agree the installation route, the position of the outdoor unit and any extra charges.
