The Rotenso Imoto in the 3.5 kW version is a wall-mounted inverter air conditioner for year-round use, meaning cooling in summer and heating in the colder months. The manufacturer quotes 3.5 kW of cooling capacity and 3.8 kW of heating capacity, with seasonal ratings of SEER 8.6 (class A+++) and SCOP 4.7 (class A++). The unit uses R32 refrigerant and is meant for rooms such as a bedroom, a living room or a home office. We choose the capacity for a specific room together with you at a free audit. Thanks to the wide compressor capacity range, the unit can run calmly even when the demand for cooling or heat is small.
Among the Rotenso models, the Imoto stands out for its airflow control and air hygiene. It has automatic 4D louvres controlled from the remote, the eMOTO system with a wide airflow angle, and also a UV-C lamp, the iAIR super ionizer and several stages of filtration. The indoor unit is slim: 824 mm wide, 207 mm deep and 287 mm high, and it weighs 8.2 kg. The manufacturer also describes a modern panel finish. In practice this gives you more control over where the airflow goes, and fewer situations in which it points straight at the bed or the desk.
The SMART Wi-Fi function with a Wi-Fi modem lets you control the air conditioner from a smartphone or tablet. Some functions, such as the SMART ECO Eye presence sensor or the turbo mode, are not available in a Multi Split system, and the wired controller is an option, as explained below. We quote the installed price after a free assessment, because it depends on the conditions in your flat and on the scope of work, which we set at the audit.
The Rotenso Imoto 3.5 kW is for someone who wants a single unit for the whole year and pays attention to how air is distributed in the room. The manufacturer describes the Imoto as an air conditioner adapted to year-round operation that heats efficiently even at an outdoor temperature of -25°C. Whether it is enough as the main source of heat in your home depends on insulation, volume and room layout, so we leave that assessment to the audit.
The figures for the 3.5 kW version are as follows. Cooling capacity is 3.5 kW nominal (range 1.4 to 4.0 kW) and heating capacity is 3.8 kW (range 1.1 to 4.1 kW). A SEER of 8.6 means class A+++ in cooling and a SCOP of 4.7 means class A++ in heating. These values are measured under conditions set by the standard, so real energy use depends on how you use the unit, on sun exposure and on insulation.
Compared with simpler models, the Imoto puts the emphasis on airflow comfort: it has louvre actuators, a wide airflow angle and modes that prevent blowing cold air when heating starts. Other Rotenso models have their own pages, and at the audit we will help you choose the one that suits your room.
If you are comparing several air conditioners, look not only at capacity but also at the compressor operating range, the noise level and the way the air is delivered. Those three things most often decide whether you are happy with the purchase after a month of use.
The system uses DC inverter technology. The control system can select one of 30 compressor frequency ranges, so output matches demand and energy use stays as low as possible. The fans have BLDC motors with 12 speed levels, and the copper tubes of the exchanger are densely finned: the number of fins was raised from 45 to 54. The refrigerant is R32, which according to the manufacturer has a lower global warming potential than older refrigerants.
The operating range in cooling mode is an outdoor temperature from -15°C to 50°C, and in heating mode from -25°C to 30°C. Reliable heating is provided by a winter package with a drain pan heater and a compressor crankcase heater. The first melts snow and ice inside the outdoor unit, and the second prepares the compressor to start at low temperatures, which protects against icing and fan malfunctions.
Keep in mind that heating output falls with the outdoor temperature, and the manufacturer's figures apply to test conditions. The SMART 8°C heating function, not available in Multi Split, switches heating on by itself when the room temperature falls, so that the room does not cool below 8°C. This is useful in an empty flat in winter and during longer absences.
The lower end of the capacity range matters in a well insulated flat that needs little power: the compressor can then run steadily at low speed instead of switching on and off often. That helps keep the temperature even and the noise lower, especially at night.
The indoor unit runs at a noise level of 20 to 39 dB and the outdoor unit at 55 dB. The lowest value applies to the quietest speed. The manufacturer also describes the eMOTO super quiet mode, in which a special fan design and the indoor unit motor are meant to give particularly quiet operation; this function is not available in a Multi Split system. For night use there is also the quiet mode, which mutes signals and messages, and the option of switching off the panel display.
The sleep function works as follows, according to the description: during cooling the temperature is raised gradually, and during heating it is lowered, by 1°C per hour for the first 2 hours. The temperature reached is then held for the next 5 hours, after which sleep mode switches off and the unit returns to its earlier settings. This way it is neither too cold nor too hot at night, and energy use goes down.
Several elements support air hygiene: a UV-C lamp that limits the presence of bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms, the iAIR super ionizer, the HD iAIR pre-filter, a Cold Nano filter that removes volatile organic compounds and formaldehyde (92.9% within 2.5 hours according to the manufacturer) and a filter with antibacterial properties. The iAIR automatic cleaning dries the exchanger for 16 minutes after activation in cooling or dry mode, removing moisture in which bacteria and fungi could develop.
Remember that none of these functions replaces regular care. Clean the filters every few weeks in season and have the whole unit inspected once a year.
Everyday operation is from the wireless remote, which contains an extra temperature sensor. In SMART Follow mode the air conditioner goes by the temperature where the remote is, not only next to the unit on the wall. A wired controller can also be connected, but the manufacturer describes it as an option, as it does the BMS gateways for integration with a building management system. The timer sets operating hours, and the auto-restart memory restores the last settings after a power cut.
The manufacturer describes a SMART Wi-Fi function which, together with a Wi-Fi modem, allows control from a smartphone or tablet, at home and away from home. Control through the app is therefore possible, but we do not assume in advance that the module is always in the set; we confirm that when we quote a specific configuration.
The SMART ECO Eye sensor, described as hidden, detects the presence of people. After 30 minutes of absence the unit goes into ECO mode and lowers its operating frequency, and after 2 hours the frequency drops to the minimum; when a person returns, the air conditioner goes back to optimal parameters. This function is not available in Multi Split. The louvre position memory means that after a restart the unit restores the last position of the vanes.
If you plan to switch the air conditioner on remotely, agree with us at the quote stage which control set you will need. That way you avoid finding out after installation that a module is missing for full control from your phone.
The indoor unit is 824 mm wide, 207 mm deep and 287 mm high, and weighs 8.2 kg. It is one of the lighter and shallower units, so it looks good on a wall, and the manufacturer calls its panel finish modern. We will confirm the exact colour and texture before you order, because the manufacturer's page does not describe them in detail.
An important part of the build is the automatic 4D louvres. Built-in actuators let you control the vertical and horizontal louvres from the remote or a wall controller, so the airflow can be sent where it is needed rather than at a person sitting under the unit. Before air is blown in heating mode, the eMOTO airflow control system starts the refrigeration circuit so that no cold air is delivered.
The exchangers in the indoor and outdoor units have a gold-coated fin finish. The manufacturer describes it as anti-corrosion protection that also guards against bacterial growth. It is a coating on the exchanger, not a self-cleaning function of the appliance. Condensate can be drained on either the left or the right side of the indoor unit, and standby mode uses up to 1 W.
A slim casing makes it easier to fit the unit into the interior, but the final impression depends on the installation spot. At the audit we will show how best to route the installation so that pipes and cables are as unobtrusive as possible and the outdoor unit does not bother you or your neighbours.
As part of the installation LeoKlima does the following: installation of the indoor and outdoor unit; up to a few metres of refrigerant, electrical and condensate route; a wall passage and a tidy run of the installation; evacuation (vacuum) and a leak check of the system; refrigerant charging and start-up; checking the operating parameters and configuring the controls; instruction on how to use the unit and handover of the warranty documents. This model allows an installation length of up to 25 m.
We set the scope of work at a free audit. Possible surcharges are discussed before the work starts: they concern a longer route, drilling through concrete or reinforced concrete, wall chasing, a condensate pump and work from a lift platform. This way there are no surprises on installation day. We quote the installed price after a free assessment.
After installation, you keep the unit in good shape above all: clean the filters regularly, do not block the air inlet or outlet and keep the condensate drain clear. Have the unit inspected once a year, because that maintains efficiency, limits energy use and catches small faults. The self-diagnosis function shows an error message on the unit display or on the wired controller, which makes contact with service easier.
In a block of flats you usually need the building manager's consent for the outdoor unit, so ask about the rules beforehand. We will help you judge where it will bother you and your neighbours least.
The Rotenso Imoto 3.5 kW suits someone who wants one air conditioner for cooling and heating, and who cares about steering the airflow, quiet running in the bedroom and extended air hygiene with a UV-C lamp. It works well where a light, not very deep unit and convenient control from a phone matter.
If what matters most is diffused airflow without a noticeable stream, or a particular casing texture, look at other Rotenso models. Remember that functions the manufacturer marks as unavailable in Multi Split will not work when several indoor units are connected to one outdoor unit, and that the wired controller is an option.
Before you decide, write down what matters most to you: quiet at night, quick cooling of the room, airflow direction or control from your phone. That makes the conversation with our adviser easier and helps match the model to your flat.
