The Rotenso Revio in the 3.5 kW version is a wall-mounted inverter air conditioner for a typical flat, where the unit has to cool in summer and top up the heating for the rest of the year. The manufacturer quotes 3.5 kW of cooling capacity and 4.0 kW of heating capacity, together with seasonal ratings of SEER 8.5 (class A+++) and SCOP 4.6 (class A++). The unit runs on R32 refrigerant. It suits a bedroom, a living room or a home office, and we choose the capacity for a specific room together with you during the audit.
What sets the Revio apart from other Rotenso models is a design built around servicing and installation. The manufacturer describes a casing held by one screw and four clips that can be taken off in about a minute, and filters that are replaced without removing the front panel. The indoor unit is 795 mm wide, 225 mm deep and 295 mm high, weighs 10.2 kg, and according to the description it can be hung just 5 cm from the ceiling. For someone who looks after the equipment personally, easy access to the filters matters in practice.
The feature set includes the iAIR super ionizer, a built-in humidity sensor with readings in the app, automatic iClean cleaning and the SMART ECO Eye presence sensor. Some of these functions are not available in a Multi Split system or need optional equipment, as explained below. We quote the installed price after a free assessment, because it depends on the conditions in your flat. Ask us for a version matched to your home and we will check which of the functions are available in the chosen configuration.
The Rotenso Revio 3.5 kW is meant for someone who wants a single unit for the whole year: cooling on hot days and heating in spring, autumn and winter. The manufacturer states that, thanks to the technology used, the air conditioner can serve as the only source of heat in a flat, house or office. That is an important caveat, because whether it is realistic in your home depends on insulation, volume and room layout, not on the capacity of the unit alone.
The figures for the 3.5 kW version are as follows. Cooling capacity is 3.5 kW nominal (range 1.3 to 4.0 kW) and heating capacity is 4.0 kW (range 0.9 to 4.5 kW). SEER is 8.5, which means class A+++ in cooling, while SCOP is 4.6, which means class A++ in heating. The wide capacity range comes from inverter technology, which adjusts the compressor to the current demand instead of switching the unit on and off.
SEER and SCOP are measured under conditions defined by the standard, so real energy use depends on how you use the unit, on sun exposure and on insulation. Treat them as a way to compare appliances, not as a promise about your bill.
If you are comparing models in the LeoKlima range, note that the Revio focuses on ease of servicing and on hygiene inside the unit. Other Rotenso models have their own pages, and during the free audit we can also advise which of them suits your room.
The heart of the system is a compressor driven by a DC inverter. The control system can select one of 30 compressor frequency ranges, so output follows demand and energy use does not climb unnecessarily. The fans are driven by energy-saving BLDC motors with 12 speed levels. The manufacturer also describes densely finned copper tubes, where the number of fins was raised from 45 to 54 to increase the heat exchange surface.
The operating range is wide. In cooling mode the air conditioner works at outdoor temperatures from -15°C to 50°C, and in heating mode from -25°C to 30°C. Winter operation relies on the compressor, the EXV expansion valve and a winter package with a drain pan heater and a compressor crankcase heater. The first melts snow and ice inside the outdoor unit, and the second prepares the compressor to start at low temperatures.
In practice this means the unit is designed to heat on frosty Warsaw days as well. Keep in mind, though, that heating output falls as the outdoor temperature drops, and the manufacturer's figures apply to test conditions. According to the manufacturer, R32 is a refrigerant with a lower global warming potential than older refrigerants and is in line with EU rules on F-gases.
Capacity is only part of the picture. The lower end of the compressor range matters when a flat is well insulated and needs little power: the unit can then run quietly and steadily instead of switching off often, which helps keep the temperature stable and the noise low.
The indoor unit runs at a noise level of 21 to 40 dB and the outdoor unit at 57 dB. The lowest value applies to the quietest speed and is what you will hear in a bedroom at night. Sleeping is also helped by the sleep function, which changes the temperature and fan speed automatically, and by the quiet mode, which mutes the visual messages and the beeps. You can also switch the panel display off completely.
For air quality the Revio combines several elements. The iAIR super ionizer produces negative oxygen ions which, according to the manufacturer, remove viruses, bacteria, mites and allergens from the air and eliminate odours. The unit has an HD iAIR pre-filter, a Cold Nano iAIR filter that removes volatile organic compounds and formaldehyde (the manufacturer quotes 92.9% effectiveness within 2.5 hours) and a filter with antibacterial properties. The built-in humidity sensor lets you follow humidity in the room in the app.
The iClean function chills the indoor exchanger to the maximum and then heats it to the maximum, in order to limit the growth of bacteria and fungi. It does not replace routine care: filters should be cleaned regularly and the whole unit serviced once a year. A convenient extra is the SMART Eye Away function, which in cooling mode steers the airflow so that it avoids the person in the room.
Remember a few simple habits that extend the life of the equipment. Do not block the air inlet and outlet, do not change the set temperature by several degrees at once and keep the condensate drain clear.
The basic way to operate the unit is the wireless remote. An extra temperature sensor in the remote works in SMART Follow mode, which means it measures the temperature where you are rather than only next to the unit on the wall. A wired controller can also be connected, but the manufacturer describes it as an option. A timer lets you set the switch-on and switch-off times, and the auto-restart memory restores the previous settings after a short power cut.
The manufacturer describes a SMART Wi-Fi function which, together with a Wi-Fi modem, allows you to control the unit from a smartphone or tablet at home and away from home. Control through the app is therefore possible, but we do not promise that the Wi-Fi module is always part of the set; we confirm that when we quote a specific configuration. The humidity sensor also uses the app.
The SMART ECO Eye sensor detects the presence of people. After 30 minutes of absence the unit goes into ECO mode and lowers its operating frequency, and after 2 hours the frequency drops to the minimum. When someone comes back, the air conditioner returns to optimal parameters. The SMART 8°C heating function switches heating on by itself so that the room does not cool below 8°C, which is useful in an empty flat in winter. Some functions, including ECO Eye and 8°C heating, are not available in a Multi Split system.
You can also schedule the work. Set the start time before you come home from work so that the room is already cooled or heated, and use the app to check humidity and change the mode when plans change, so the unit does not have to run all day.
The indoor unit is compact: 795 mm wide, 225 mm deep and 295 mm high, with a weight of 10.2 kg. That depth means the unit does not protrude much from the wall, and the height allows it to be hung under the ceiling. The manufacturer stresses that the design allows installation as close as 5 cm from the ceiling, which can matter in low rooms or next to built-in furniture.
The build is also reflected in technical solutions. The exchangers of the indoor and outdoor units have a gold-coated fin finish, which the manufacturer describes as protection against corrosion and bacterial growth. This is an anti-corrosion coating on the exchanger, not a self-cleaning function of the appliance. Condensate can be drained on either the left or the right side of the indoor unit, which makes it easier to adapt the route to the layout of the walls.
Standby mode uses up to 1 W, which according to the manufacturer saves up to 80% compared with earlier solutions. The fan blades were designed on bionic principles to reduce air resistance. The louvre remembers its last position and restores it after the unit is restarted.
In a block of flats the neatness of the installation routes counts as well. We try to run the pipes and cables so that they are as unobtrusive as possible, and we place the outdoor unit in line with the rules of the housing community or cooperative, where such rules exist. We discuss this together at the audit.
As part of the installation LeoKlima does the following: installation of the indoor and outdoor unit; up to a few metres of refrigerant, electrical and condensate route; a wall passage and a tidy run of the installation; evacuation (vacuum) and a leak check of the system; refrigerant charging and start-up; checking the operating parameters and configuring the controls; instruction on how to use the unit and handover of the warranty documents. This model allows an installation length of up to 25 m.
We set the scope of work at a free audit. Possible surcharges are discussed before the work starts: they concern a longer route, drilling through concrete or reinforced concrete, wall chasing, a condensate pump and work from a lift platform. This way there are no surprises on installation day and you know what you are paying for. We quote the installed price after a free assessment.
Servicing is simplified in this model. According to the manufacturer, the filters are taken out after releasing the top cover from its magnets, without removing the panel, and taking off the casing takes about a minute. Clean the filters every few weeks in season and have the unit inspected once a year, because that keeps efficiency up, limits energy use and catches small faults before they become a breakdown. The self-diagnosis function shows an error code on the display.
In a block of flats you usually need the building manager's consent for the outdoor unit, so it is worth asking in advance about the rules in force. We will help you judge where the outdoor unit will disturb you and your neighbours least.
The Rotenso Revio 3.5 kW suits a flat owner who wants one air conditioner for both cooling and heating, values low noise in the bedroom and cares about clean air. It is especially convincing when the equipment should be easy to service: the filters are quickly accessible and the casing comes off without long work.
It is a less obvious choice if what matters most to you is the look of the unit or a diffused airflow; in that case check other Rotenso models. Remember also that functions marked by the manufacturer as unavailable in Multi Split will not work when several indoor units are connected to one outdoor unit, and that the wired controller is an option.
If you are still unsure, compare noise, dimensions and functions in one place: the values on this page are those given by the manufacturer for the 3.5 kW version.
